About
Michelle is a choreographer, dancer, and teacher in New York. Of late, Michelle's choreography has been seen in Manhattan and Brooklyn. In 2017, she will present new works in New York; Austin, Texas; Napa, California; and Spartanburg, South Carolina. Michelle has been dancing with XAOC Contemporary Ballet since September 2015 and with Spark Movement Collective since February 2017. Prior to moving to New York, she was a professional ballerina with Ballet Austin for 14 years. She graduated from St. Edward's University in December 2010 having majored in Dance and The Humanities. Michelle has been a professor of ballet at SUNY Purchase since September 2016.
Michelle additionally teaches private yoga on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, specializing in (but not limited to) pre- and post-natal instruction. She has been a Yoga Alliance instructor since 2008 presently holding their RPYT, RYT 500, and E-RYT 200 certifications. She volunteers with NYC Yoga Project to bring yoga to individuals in need. While in Austin, Michelle taught Vinyasa Flow, Hatha, and prenatal yoga classes at Austin Kula Yoga, Dancers Shape, and Ballet Austin. She had the great pleasure of learning from prenatal specialists Sue Elkind and Anna Verwaal. Michelle's advanced studies include training at Castle Hill, Dharma, and BFree Yoga; prenatal workshops with Meg O'Connell voted best Prenatal Yoga instructor by Austin Birth Awards; and birth classes with Chan McDermott. Michelle believes yoga is extremely beneficial in her life as a ballet dancer and as a mom, and she found it especially empowering during her pregnancy and birth.
While previously in Austin, Michelle was a Lululemon Athletica ambassador and loved taking part in community outreach. Michelle hosted multiple yoga benefits for the SafePlace Organization, led a Yoga for Dancers workshop at Austin Kula Yoga, and taught children's yoga at the Active Life Movement Festival.
